While the Bronco got all the love when it returned to the Ford lineup in the 2020s, the Ford Bronco Sport got overshadowed. That’s a shame, because the Bronco Sport is a gem of an SUV, offering a high-quality mix of styling, off-road performance, and features that make it one of the best compact SUVs on the market. Where the Ford Bronco offers extra space at a heftier price, the Bronco Sport offers value for folks who don’t need the extra space or features found on the full-size Bronco. While the baby Bronco isn’t as big or strong as its older brother, it easily outclasses the rest of the SUVs in the compact class, offering a level of off-road performance that will satisfy most drivers. We’ll highlight everything you need to know about the Ford Bronco Sport, from your powertrain options to the off-road features. If you’d like to learn more about the new Ford SUV, visit Bob Moore Ford dealership in OKC!
The base Bronco is motivated by a three-cylinder, 1.5-liter turbocharged engine, making 180 horsepower and equipped with all-wheel drive. The 2.0-liter four-cylinder is worth the upgrade, though, taking you to 250 horsepower with the same drivetrain and an eight-speed automatic transmission. The bigger engine also comes with paddle shifters on the steering wheel, plus a differential lock. For the best off-road experience, we’d opt for the Sasquatch package, which adds all-terrain tires, 17-inch wheels, and a 1.0-inch suspension lift. The bigger engine can tow up to 2,700 lbs, while the base can tow 2,200 lbs. The baby Bronco is more fuel efficient than its big brother, getting 25 mpg in the city and 30 mpg on the highway. While smaller than the base Bronco, the Sport is still plenty spacious, with 32.5 cubic feet of cargo space in the trunk and up to 65.2 cubic feet of cargo space in total. It comes in four trim levels:
Every Bronco Sport comes with at least five G.O.A.T. modes (Goes Over All Terrain), allowing your Ford SUV to traverse all sorts of terrain, from snowy roads to dusty trails. We think the Outer Banks should be the choice for comfort-oriented passengers, with heated seats and a heated steering wheel, but the Badlands is more equipped for trail duty, with steel bumpers, skid plates, and optional Bilstein shocks. The interior of every Sport features a 13.2-inch infotainment touchscreen, running Ford’s latest software: Sync 4. It connects you to wireless Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and in-dash navigation. Six speakers are standard, but opting for one of the top models adds a 10-speaker B&O stereo system instead. The Bronco Sport also has a 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster sitting right behind the wheel. This year, the Bronco Sport earned a five-star overall safety rating. It comes with a wide range of driver assistance features, including amenities like lane keeping assistance, blind-spot monitoring, and adaptive cruise control with stop and go.
